About Us
We are storytellers
Everyone loves a good story. As humans, we are wired to love them. That’s why we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire real change. Social media has allowed us to visually engage with our communities in real time like never before. So we know there’s no time like the present to harness those powers for good to build the world we want to live in. For us, that starts with elevating the voices of farms and food businesses that are leading the way for sustainability in their communities.
Why do we work with food businesses? Food is a necessity for our survival and how we grow it speaks volumes. If we want to inhabit this planet and thrive here for generations to come, we need to change our relationship to food. The good news is that tons of regenerative farms and sustainable food businesses are already on a mission to change our food landscape for the better. They are indigenous educators, farmers, chefs, scientists, healers, activists, and gardeners who are making change in their communities.
We believe that global change happens on a local scale. Community is everything. And nobody knows their neighborhood, their land, their climate better than the people who live in it and work it. By telling your stories on social media in a compelling, approachable way, we can inspire people everywhere to envision a future where healthy, local, and sustainable food is accessible to everyone. Together, we can change the world.
This isn’t a media company. It’s a revolution.
Every win for the planet, is a win for humanity. So our mission is to help change makers in sustainable food and agriculture tell their stories. Together, we can inspire a cultural movement — and a future where implementing sustainable food systems is the norm.
Why tell my story? We want your sustainable food business to thrive. It’s no secret that in this digital world, having a presence on social media is a key piece in attracting and retaining new customers and getting your voice heard in your community.
But we recognize that as a small farmer, building a social media presence is the LAST thing on your mind. And really, it shouldn't have to be your job. That’s where we come in. We help you tell your story on social media at whatever level you need to help your business succeed. That way, you can focus on what you do best.
Social media, at its best, is a medium for communication. And we believe in the power of stories that come from the people who are experts in their field and who are doing the work. We can help you communicate your values, your practices, and your products to the world and help you get seen.
Farmers are under represented in the media. Yet food is THE most important resource we have as humans. Your stories matter and getting them seen will help people to better understand where their food is coming from and how it is grown. And who knows, maybe it will inspire them to change the world too…
Join us in making a difference by telling stories with impact.
Roann Pao
Born in Taiwan and growing up in New Jersey and California, Roann has found herself in between worlds and cultures. This experience fueled her love for photography, filmmaking and nature.
Storytelling through photos and films helped her convey the complex and nuanced life experiences and connect with others when words failed.
Her love for nature and the environment came from a yearning for stability from moving around frequently as a child. No matter where she relocated, nature was always an accessible safe and grounding space for her.
After working in the Bay Area start up scene for five years, Roann is ready to take all that she’s learned to start a business of her own — one where she is able to reconnect to her roots in the media production world and contribute meaningfully to the sustainability discourse, a topic very close to her heart.

Sofia Daniels
Born and raised in Northern California, Sofia has deep roots in the region. After spending most of her childhood in Sacramento, Sofia (not unlike Ladybird) had dreams of moving far away, but her studies in cultural anthropology re-instilled the importance of home and place, which have taken on profound new meanings in her life.
Connecting with the film community in the Bay Area allowed her to bridge her passion for storytelling with her desire to connect with people and the land. Working with local filmmakers on projects centered around social and climate justice reaffirmed to her that telling stories was her calling.
In 2021 she began freelancing as a video producer for businesses and farms in her community, but her role quickly grew to include so much more. Struggling to manage it all on her own, Roann came into her life at the perfect time and the two decided to launch Rhizo Media together in January 2023.
Equipped with community, a deep appreciation for nature, and a fierce devotion to the place she has always called home, she is ready to expand her roots and pour her heart into her work at Rhizo Media.
